Research Mentorship Programme |
What is research mentorship programme? We connect aspiring undergraduate students with UCL's high calibre of senior undergraduate (fourth-year and above) and postgraduate researchers.
Members can apply to our Flagship Research Mentorship Programme as a Research proMentor or Research Mentee. Because every research project is not the same, every mentorship will not be the same either. Mentors can tailor their mentorship according to their research project and the stage they are at. Mentees will be able to choose from a range of projects where they may be working as research assistants, learning new knowledge their mentors are producing or collaborating to produce a research project. Mentors"I benefited both by the outstanding job [mentee] did in aiding me in my literature review and by experiencing the role of mentor which was a novel position for me and one I hope to undertake in the future." "The thirst of knowledge of the mentees and their input was inspiring. The chance to ideate and implement a mentorship curriculum was a valuable and enlightening experience. I am looking forward to implement what I learned throughout this experience in future similar situations." "These sessions were beneficial to me because it gave me a space to bounce ideas during my early thinking and go away from the sessions with a sense of motivation for my own writing." "The application process made it easy for the most suitable mentees and mentors to get matched. The programme offered the pairings flexibility on style and manner that best fits both individuals." |
Mentees"I liked that it was a sufficiently long to learn the research methods and participate actively in the thesis research, but also not too much time had to be dedicated weekly so it didn’t feel like a burden. I also liked how involved we actually got with the project and how it wasn’t “oversimplified” just because we’re undergraduates." "The harmonious working experience, and the insightful knowledge gained that extended the understanding to my course." "The topics discussed helped me make connections between other subjects from my course and generally helped me develop a broader understanding." "The mentorship was very flexible yet enriching, as it pushed me out of my comfort zone by allowing me to take part in an experience to which I would not have been exposed otherwise." |
